Even though infographic marketing has only been around for a short while, 65% of marketers use infographics according to a study that was performed by the Content Marketing Institute in a report titled the 2018 Benchmarks. The report also points out that there are several brands still making amateur mistakes as it relates to optimizing infographics.

Another interesting fact is that even though 61% of marketers have indicated that increasing their organic visibility has become the top marketing priority according to HubSpot, there are still several who do not optimize their blogs or their infographics. Worst off, optimization creates organic traffic, which could be a missed opportunity. If you’ve been struggling with optimizing your Infographics, below are some best practices that you can use to put your infographics on the map.

Step 1. Identify Keywords to Optimize

One of the first things that you want to do is make sure your content can be associated with one single keyword or a keyword phrase, which are words that people use when performing a search in the search bar. The idea is to get your content to rank high in the search results.

Step 2. Use the Keywords to Optimize your Infographic

Now that you have selected your keywords and/or keyword phrases, you can now use them to optimize your infographics. Just as content ranks high in the search engine results pages (SERP) so can your infographics if well optimized.

Step 3. Know Exactly Where to Add Your Keywords

There are multiple places where you can add your keywords to improve optimization and high rankings. They include adding them to the image file names, the image alt text, the meta descriptions, the H1 headings, the headlines, the URLs and the image file names. Each of these areas has been known to improve rankings on the search engine results page.

Other Things to Remember

Some other things to keep in mind to have a better optimization experience is to monitor the page length. Also, be sure your load time is consistent with how Google judges the page speed, monitor your bounce rate, optimize all of your social media sharing buttons to increase traffic, and lastly, be sure to have a visible call to action on the infographic.
